This extension to a family house with marble brise-soleils on the rear façade in New South Wales, Australia, is designed by Australian practice Carter Williamson Architects. The original house on the site is a 1860’s timber cottage sourced, sawn and constructed from local timber. Preserving and restoring the integrity of the existing 1860’s workers cottage as part of the street scape and the eclectic, urban fabric of Balmain was key to the development of this site.
