Barcelona-based architecture firm Bailo Rull ADD+ has recently completed ’18 VPO’ a social housing project located in Santa Eugenia de Berga, Spain. The project is located on the edge in the city at the last block overlooking to the west planned green areas of the countryside.
When Bailo Rull ADD+ starts the project one of the main problem they had to face was how to design a social housing project with a misguided solar orientation? The architect came up with a workaround that would block the afternoon sun, while providing a visual connection from each apartment to the green space across the street. The 18 apartments are compact, measuring an interior dimension of 70 square meters. The step between the terrace and the flats allows from the inside of the apartments to see the west landscape without visual obstruction. Take a look!
