The Buhrmann & Partners Office Building received an Award of Excellence from the Namibia Institute of Architects in April 2012 in addition to be shortlisted for an award in the office category for the 2011 world architecture festival. The building lies on a narrow 1500 square meters property in the residential area of Klein Windhoek.
When it came to the design, simplicity and geometric clarity served as the basis. The three partners had to be accommodated in separate offices with views over the garden. A long concrete beam, with impressive clear spans, is employed as a prominent circulation axis demarcating a clear approach to the building for both visitor and staff. Hovering above a reflecting pool, the office spaces are contained within glass cubes framed with monolithic bands of concrete. A generous roof overhang shades the glazed facades of the main space while horizontal louvers provide shade for the offices.
